Wisdom (Proverbs 1)

Knowledge and wisdom are not the same. You can have knowledge without wisdom, but not wisdom without knowledge. Wisdom is more or less the application of knowledge. Wisdom, of course, is not common among youth. How does one gain wisdom?

We should fear (revere) the Lord because that’s the beginning of knowledge. Fools despise wisdom and instruction (Proverbs 1:7).

One of the warnings in Proverbs 1 is do not follow the crowd.

We often ignore God when He instructs us, but when death comes it is too late. Do not reject God while you have the opportunity.

If sinners entice you, do not consent. While you are young, follow the instruction of your parents.

It is in our nature to resist authority. We don’t see the big picture, the pain and heartache that an authority figure might see.
