Why today’s SCOTUS ruling on same-sex marriage is wrong

Forget for a moment the morality of same-sex marriage. Whether or not you agree that same-sex marriage is immoral, today’s SCOTUS ruling is wrong because it ignores states’ rights as codified in Amendment X of the Bill of Rights. The U.S. Constitution does not deal with marriage in any way. Items that are not governed by that document are expressly reserved for the states. Therefore, if the Constitution actually mattered anymore, SCOTUS would have punted same-sex marriage back to the states for each one to decide for itself what it’s marriage laws should be.
