Climate change on Mars

NASA has discovered evidence of flowing water on Mars, which itself is noteworthy, but rather than take the discovery for what it is, NASA has immediately used the discovery for climate change propaganda.

Eons ago, ancient Mars had “an extensive atmosphere,” along with “an ocean two-thirds the size of the northern hemisphere and a mile deep,” said Jim Green, director of planetary science at NASA said during a press conference on Monday. After an unknown catastrophe, “Mars suffered a major climate change and lost its surface water,” Green explained.

First of all, there’s no way we can know about any ancient oceans on Mars. We’ve never put a man there, we’ve never explored the place other than by space probes, and any such claim about former oceans is purely wild speculation with zero scientific evidence. Second, how do we know there was climate change on Mars? Where did the water go? And how come climate change on earth is supposed to cause sea levels to rise, but climate change on Mars supposedly had the opposite effect? What caused climate change on Mars? Did ancient Martians drill for oil and drive SUV’s?

Folks, the root of this baseless speculation is fear-mongering. The idea is to get it into our heads that at some point in the past, Mars experienced climate change that was so catastrophic it lost its water, and that if we don’t cave to leftist climate change policies (higher taxes, bigger government, reduced lifestyles for all but the political elites), we face the same eventful fate here on earth.
